Air Fryer Lemon Pepper Yellow Beans

Air fryers have made making dinner easy, but they’re not just good for fries and chicken tenders. I use my air fryer for everything, including side dishes like Lemon Pepper Yellow Beans. So pretty, so easy, and coated in flavor, jazz up your next meal without a bunch of extra work, and give these beans a try!

I love yellow beans. Yellow wax beans, yellow string beans, or whatever you call them, taste just like a green bean but have a vibrant yellow color. You cook them the same way, too, and they’re just as versatile as their green cousins.

I can’t wait for summer to come around when the local farmers start selling yellow beans at the nearby markets. I don’t have a garden, but when I was a kid, our family did, and we’d plant lots of yellow beans. If you grow green beans, give the yellow ones a try!

The secret to this recipe is to a) not overcook the beans and b) use a good quality lemon pepper. If there’s salt in your lemon pepper seasoning, don’t add salt to the beans. And you don’t even need to precook the beans. Just toss in the seasoning and into the air fryer!

What You’ll Love About Air Fryer Lemon Pepper Yellow Beans

  • This recipe is perfect for those busy days when you want a delicious side dish without the hassle.
  • The combination of lemon pepper, garlic, and onion powders creates a zesty flavor that coats every bean without overpowering them.
  • These yellow beans go well with a variety of main dishes – see my suggestions below.

Ingredients

  • Yellow string beans – Use fresh yellow beans, not frozen. Snip the stem end off but you can leave the other tip intact.
  • Garlic powder – Use garlic powder, not garlic salt.
  • Onion powder – Use onion powder, not onion salt.
  • Lemon pepper – Most commercial lemon pepper blends have salt in them. If yours doesn’t, then add a pinch of salt to the spice mixture.
  • Olive oil

Chef Jenn’s Tips

  • All air fryers cook differently. Check your beans after a few minutes to make sure they’re not browning too quickly.
  • Don’t overcrowd your air fryer. I have a big basket air fryer, and these beans fit into that, but you may need to cut the recipe in half or cook it in batches if your air fryer is smaller.
  • These beans are best served immediately, but they can also be reheated for a quick and tasty snack.

Make It A Meal

Air Fryer Lemon Pepper Yellow Beans are a wonderful addition to any meal. They pair beautifully with chicken or fish, adding a colorful and healthy side to your plate.

Storage

To keep the beans fresh, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They can be reheated in the air fryer or microwave for a quick side dish. While freezing is not recommended, as it may alter the texture, these beans are so delicious that there’s rarely any need for long-term storage!
