I’ve tried making frozen waffles in the oven, in the toaster, and even on the stovetop. But once I learned how use the air fryer to make my waffles, I’ve never looked back! They turn out crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and oh-so-delicious.

Waffles always remind me of lazy weekend mornings; there’s just something so luxuriously relaxing about them. So once I realized how quick and easy it was to whip up air fryer waffles, I started making them all the time. It’s the perfect way to make even a busy weekday morning feel a little more like the weekend!

What you’ll love about Air Fryer Frozen Waffles

  • They go from freezer to table in about 10 minutes.
  • The air fryer makes store-bought frozen waffles taste just like homemade ones.
  • Prep and clean-up are a breeze! No bowls of batter or messy waffle irons to deal with.

Ingredients

  • Frozen waffles — Store-bought or homemade both work great.
  • Air Fryer
  • Toppings of choice — Pure maple syrup, whipped cream, fresh berries, and chocolate chips are some of my favorite waffle toppings.

HOW TO MAKE FROZEN WAFFLES IN AN AIR FRYER

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350-F.
  2. Place the frozen waffles in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  3. Air fry for 1 minute, then flip the waffles and cook for an additional minute to cook them evenly.
  4. Serve hot or transfer to a platter in the oven on WARM if you’re cooking multiple batches.

Chef Jenn’s Tips

  • All air fryers cook differently. If your waffles are not golden brown and crunchy after 2 minutes, give them a bit more time.
  • Overlap will cause the waffles to cook unevenly. Cook them in 1 layer if possible.
  • Any toaster waffle will work in the air fryer. Liquid waffle batter will not work in the air fryer.
  • Homemade waffles made from batter will also toast nicely in the air fryer but may need a bit more time if they are thicker.

What To Serve With Air Fryer Frozen Waffles

When it comes to toppings, you can’t go wrong with maple syrup, whipped cream, fresh berries, or chocolate chips! For a little extra flavor and crunch, you could add some of my honey almond granola or maple pecan granola. Want to really take brunch to the next level? Make a batch of smoked candied bacon ahead of time to serve on the side!

How many frozen waffles can you make in the air fryer at one time?

As many as you can fit in the air fryer basket in a single layer; just don’t overcrowd the air fryer. The key is for the hot air to circulate around each side of the frozen waffles to get them perfectly crispy on the outside. I can fit 4 Eggo-style waffles in my large-capacity air fryer at one time.

How do you store waffles in the freezer?

Arrange leftover waffles on a baking sheet and freeze them for about two hours. After that, you can store them in a plastic gallon bag with a sheet of parchment paper between each one. They’ll keep for several months, so the next time you’re craving waffles, you can grab a few and throw them in the air fryer!

What kind of waffles should I use for this recipe?

That’s entirely up to you! I’ve tried making both frozen homemade and Eggo waffles in an air fryer, and both turned out fantastic. Any store-bought frozen brand will work just fine.
