When I want comfort food on the table without spending all night in the kitchen, this Cheeseburger Pie is my go-to. It has everything you love about a classic burger: hearty beef, melty cheddar, and simple seasonings baked into a golden Bisquick crust that’s easy and satisfying.

The best part is you probably have everything you need waiting in your fridge or pantry already. Around here, it’s a family favorite because it’s quick, filling, and always hits the spot. Add a fresh salad or a side of veggies, and dinner’s done.

Ingredients
- Ground beef – I use 80/20 ground beef but you could also use lean ground beef.
- Onion – Any kind of onion is fine, even red onion.
- Cheddar cheese – I love the flavor of sharp cheddar but any kind of cheese will work.
- Milk – Use dairy milk in this recipe, almond or other plant-based milks won’t taste as good.
- Salt
- Ground black pepper
- Garlic powder
- Bisquick baking mix
- Eggs – Extra-large eggs are fine, too.
- Worcestershire sauce

Preheat the oven to 400°F. I always double-check my oven with a digital oven thermometer to make sure it’s accurate. Grease a 9-inch ceramic pie dish with butter or spray, then place it on a rimmed baking sheet so it’s easier to move without spills.
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the diced onion. I like using a meat chopper to break the beef into even pieces quickly.

Cook until the beef is no longer pink and the onions are tender, then transfer the mixture with a slotted spoon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain off any extra grease.

Spread the beef and onion evenly into the pie pan. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top so it covers the meat in a good layer.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, Bisquick, eggs, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until just combined.

No need to overmix here. Pour the mixture evenly over the beef and cheese, then give the pan a gentle shake so it settles.

Bake for 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is fully set. A toothpick inserted in the middle should come out clean. Let it rest for a few minutes before cutting into slices.

Chef Jenn’s Tips
- Swap cheddar with Colby Jack or Monterey Jack for a fun twist.
- Want a veggie boost? Add mushrooms or chopped spinach to the beef mixture.
- Leftovers heat up nicely in the microwave or oven and make an easy lunch.
Recommendation
Make It A Meal
Round it out with a crisp salad, roasted broccoli, or even sweet potato fries. For a little extra burger flair, add ketchup or a spoonful of sour cream on top before serving.

Storage
Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat slices in the microwave or cover the whole pie with foil and warm it in the oven at 300°F until heated through.
